General Rules of Eating


  • NO PROCESSED FOODS; particularly refined sugars, non whole grain flours, polished rice, partially hydrogenated vegetable oils.
  • READ LABELS; less ingredients is best.
  • DECREASE ANIMAL PRODUCTS IN DIET; go for quality free range/organic/no growth hormone/grass fed meats and dairy and eat 1/3 to ½ what you would usually consider a serving, wild is better than farmed.
  • AVOID FRIED FOODS; enough said.
  • BE AN OMNIVORE; mix it up, try something new.
  • EAT FISH; particularly wild, oily cold water fish. 
  • FRESHER IS BETTER; pull it up, wash the dirt off, knosh. 
  • GARDENING IS GOOD FOR YOU; so is cooking. 
  • ORGANIC IS ALWAYS BETTER. 
  • EAT LESS, LIVE LONGER; fasting is good in moderation and so is hunger – you can’t lose weight without it.
  • EATING THE FRUIT IS BETTER THAN DRINKING THE JUICE; an apple a day does keep the doctor away, so do fresh berries.
  • EAT TOGETHER SOCIALLY AND OFTEN;  your attitude and emotions while eating affect your digestion and your ability to get the nourishment out of the food.
  • IF YOU CHEAT; eating is better than smoking, red wine in moderation is best alcohol, green tea is best caffeine, dark chocolate is best sweet, anchovies and nuts are best salt.
